Drugs and Documentary's

I know not everyone watches documentary's, but I personally love them. I love documentary's about drugs, don't ask me why but they fascinate me to no end. The most recent documentary I've watched was called "Ben: Diary Of A Heroin Addict". It's about a guy named Ben who records his life as a heroin addict. He carry's around a camera with him and shoots up every day.

It's pretty amazing how people let themselves get completely dependent on a substance like that. I understand how it can be hard to quit because of the cravings once you're addicted but to get addicted to me seems like a foolish and totally avoidable thing. I don't really believe in that whole "once and you're hooked" line. I've had my curiosity about drugs and have done many at least one time including heroin purely for experimentation and understanding of the drug and while they were very enjoyable, I still could not see myself waking up every day and literally needing it, why would anyone want to live like this?

I know it may seem foolish of me to experiment with drugs, but hey I was curious and I would be wondering for the rest of my life if I hadn't tried it. I am not in any way saying you should go out and try drugs, but if you are as curious as me, watch the documentary's first and do your research on the drug. Before I try anything I do hours of research on it and determine weather it's safe for me to do or not. Erowid is a great website for useful information on drugs if you're interested in reading more.

  1. What do drugs feel like? I've never tried one.

  2. different drugs make you feel different ways, although the euphoria seems the same with all drugs, to me at least. as far as opiates such as heroin, it makes you forget about everything as if nothing matters and you just feel good all around.

  3. drug dependence is the worst. Not that I know; I'm in the same boat as you wondering how anyone could allow themselves to get that way. Followed

  4. I love documentaries. National Geographic does some good ones. Not all one sided. They tend to show both pros and cons. Good stuff.

  5. documentaries are underrated. you finish watching them with a ton of thoughts running through your mind about what you've just seen.

  6. I don't watch a lot of documentaries, but this looks pretty cool. The last one I saw was called 'Whole' and it was about people who want to become amputees, it's a condition called Body Identity Integrity Disorder, or something...one guy shot his leg off with a shotgun and another froze his leg in dry ice to force the doctors to amputate.

As for the whole drug thing, well, I agree, it's stupid, but things are never simple. People get involved for all different kinds of reasons. With heroin as well, once you've been on it regularly for a while, if you stop, you're fucked. The mental and physical pain of withdrawl will eat you alive.

  9. Yes, drugs are totally avoidable and I don't feel curious at all about them, they are not worth the risk imo.

  10. Apparently cigarettes are harder to quit than heroin. Obviously they have less impact on day-to-day life so I guess motivation is harder to get, but I've always found the statement hard to believe. Interesting post by the way.
